Volcano by Turbo Fruits

Song #12
Turbo Fruits are one of the many spawns from Be Your Own Pet, but one of the best yet. Members Jonas, Max and John, (Max being the only non-BYOP) have all been friends for a very long time and love making music so why not create another band? Their music is total dirty garage rock at it's best and you can thank their Nashville (where they are from) musical influences for it. Their debut self-titled album has so many memorable tracks with such fan favs like 'Devo Girl', 'Pocket Full Of Thistles' and 'Volcano'. They are really one to watch out for.

Hey Little Bird by The Barbarians

Song #11

The Barbarians were one of those 60's garage groups who had a couple hit singles that charted and then disappeared into the night, leaving them to be remembered only by fans of 60's garage music. They formed in 1964 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and their biggest/highest charting single was 'Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl?' a good fun and humorous song, which reached #55. That track and the fact that they had a one-armed drummer was what got them recognized. A band such as The Barbarians who didn't have much commercial success, really didn't need it because their talent surpassed all that. The track i'm giving had to be their lesser known single, it didn't chart at all and was hardly recognized, but i'll always have these boys in my heart.

Leave My Kitten Alone by The Gruesomes

Song #10
The Gruesomes are one of the most influential, most respected and loved underground garage 'revival' bands of the early 80's in. They started in their mid-teens with no experience whatsoever, in Montreal Canada, they took their name from the next door neighbours on the television show The Flintstones. Their biggest musical influence were The Beatles, and the way they dressed was inspired from them aswell. They became a big hit in small underground clubs and on universities, they became known for their rowdy high energy shows. The Gruesomes have influenced many modern bands around the world and their legacy here in Canada still lives on, they have just released a book, and are re-releasing Tyrants of Teen Trash on cd. These boys (now men) still have it and are my top (along with Dandi Wind) favorite Canadian bands.

I love my little kitten just like your hound dog loves his bone

Super Soaked by Be Your Own PET

Song #9
Be Your Own PET, are such an amazing band from the land of Nashville, USA, that they will blow your mind to pieces with just one track, fact. These kids are bloody genius, down to every aspect they've got it right, making them one of the (few) BEST modern garage punk-rock bands. Their first self-titled featured wicked tracks like 'Bicycle, Bicycle You Are My Bicycle' 'Adventure' 'October First Account' and so much more. They'vr also released a few ep's and singles, like Damn Damn Leash' and did a genius cover of Queen's 'Bicycle Race'. They are just about to release their sophomore album called 'Get Awkard'. This crazy band is known for being immature party animals, which makes them all that much better as people and a band. Their live and album energy just seep through every song and you cn tell they are all having the time of their lives, also Jemina's voice is like pure love, and i love how on the new album it seems like she's screaming her heart out on every track, amazing!

I feel the pressure to change my ways, but all i see are more dark days

Hooded Hawks by Mook

Song #8
Mook derive from none only than the Big Apple itself, but they aren't anything like their fellow New Yorkers, these boys are all about keeping it real. Big on DYI, all the tracks from their ep 'Eggs', were recorded at the singer's, Paul, parents home, in their attic to be exact, can't get any cooler fact. Here is another band who's music is so unique you can't impose a genre on them, from tracks like 'Hooded Hawks' which in my opinion has a very macabre/caberet feel to it (and may be the reason why it's my favorite) and then you have tracks like 'Broken Bee (light me)' and 'Dear Strangers' that are very mellow and sentimental. Whatever they do i back it 100% because i love a band who aren't afraid of exploring many different genres and making them their own.

And the quiet scream of death, ignites the oil sky

Kind Of Beast by Spiral Beach

Song #7
Spiral Beach are an insane band from Toronto who's thrashy post-punk tunes just make you want to raid a venue and then trash it. I just discovered them a couple days ago and i already cannot stop thinking about them and getting ready to see them live whenever possible. It's refreshing to see a young band my age who live in my area and are really kicking major ass, they are like little musical geniusses. Known around T.O for their rowdy and energetic shows, they are really bringing something new or back should i say (because Toronto had a really amazing punk scene back in the 70's) to the indie-folk filled community of Toronto. They are definetely a band to watch and they've already released their second album called 'Ball', the first album was self-titled. The track i'm giving you, is the best one to listen to first and will grab your ears forever.

Kind Of Beast by Spiral Beach
What kind of beast am I? Nobody knows, when i look down at my feet i see ten too many toes.

Little Bag Hair by Mystery Jets

Song #6

Mystery Jets' music is so diverse they are one of the few bands whom i cannot describe what genre their music falls into....and THAT is a brilliant thing indeed. Although i cannot tell what kind of music they are, they like to often to describe themselves as prog-rock and are influenced by likes of King Crimson and Syd Barrett. The influences are present in their music but in an ultimately modern way. Mystery Jets can make a sad subject seem happy because their music is so very often full off joy and jumpy beats and when they want you to feel sad, you really feel it. Hailing from Eel Pie Island in London England, these boys are about to released their very anticipated sophomore album and by the sounds of the new tracks like 'Flakes' and 'Young Love' it's going to be even more genius than 'Making Dens/Zootime'.
